The Road to Winchester Home A Pilgrim?

The picture above was taken in the small garden attached to Winchester Cathedral, the reader looks truly at peace with the world....taken at the end of my journey ....

The start of the 'road' links with the route to Guildford and the London Cathedrals  at Saint Andrews the Parish church of Farnham (a beautiful church, tastefully restored)  then following the River Wey to Bentley then through the very English countryside to Alton. ....passing an old Admiralty telegraph station on the way, and taking a picture of a butterfly that was then used in lots of paintings...Then on to New Alresford, The Bluebell Railway Line and the River Itchen... to Winchester.

Winchester Cathedral is a magical place dating back to Norman times with many interesting sites & bits of history. The ruined glass from the civil war, the shrine to St Swithen, ancient floor tiles + frescos  and a great choir.

The modern Icons and  flags, a hidden garden, not to mention  the statue of 'Sound Two'  in the crypt, fit the new in the context of the very old. ,>>>you name it Winchester's got it, including a very expensive entrance fee.
