Milngavie, Glasgow - Fort William 153km/95 miles This was the first outing of the Waterfall club. With Stuart, John & Jim. For October the weather was very 'reasonable' for that part of Scotland. It is fair to say we found out a lot about Long Distance Walking>>> How to run foul of hotel staff ordering food too late & where you can & can't buy wine on route. On reflection I think we had one of the best long distance routes of the UK on our first outing. It was a great experience. To make the trip even more enjoyable we were joined on Ranoch Moor by a German Girl we referred to TLJ ( The lovely Julie ). There was confusion amongst our party why this charming person should want to join such a band of degenerate bums, but eventually we decided we were of a 'certain' age' where she felt safe. Perhaps she thought better of the decision after an evening of 'Rusty Nails' in The Kingshouse hotel. Walking with a hangover is not a good activity. We also did not allow enough time to complete the whole journey ( a habit we are only slowly braking) so there were a few hard 'slog days'... If I were to do this journey again I would start at Tyndrum. The walk up Conic Hill would not happen!
