The Lake District                           Home

I have made four trips to The Lake District, including  The Cumbrian Way  The fist trip was with Tracy, John, Jim & myself, staying at a cottage in the middle of no where. We started of with a  pleasant little trip up Cat Bells, on the next day we planned  a walk to the top of Great Gable. To cut a long story down to one that one you are prepared to share on the web, we changed our minds & I think we went up Haystacks instead.

The rot set in when Tracy said as soon as we got out of the car 'That's the track boys' & we said something like 'We don't think you are right Tracy ....it's this one over here'> It is possible Tracy was right. When we discovered our error we drew lots for who was going to tell Tracy>>> I lost.

We did plan to shuffle up Great Gable on our Cumbrian Way trip but its fair to say it was a very long day & we gave it a miss ( or something like that)... Anyway on our third trip to the area, staying at Keswick YH, with Neil, John, Jean, Jim & myself we mustered up all our joint skills & knocked it off. Apart from many other great walks that week including 'High Street', we had a small celebration at the end of the week in an Indian restaurant where Jim & I exchanged badges of Great Gable'.... I now own a GPS.

On my latest visit our first 'miss' at Great Gable paid off, as I was able to show Joy the fantastic view of Buttermere from the 'wrong' path.
