Cairngorms                                         Home

Staying at a cottage belonging to a friend of Johns, we enjoyed a reasonably low level trip around the Cairngorms. We managed a few navigational challenges like a river appearing from nowhere (These things happen from time to time when you are like us and have a reasonably relaxed approach to navigation>>> Jim & I tend to do it by committee, then try to lay off the blame to each other when it goes wrong)

The weather was very 'Scottish' at times, but we still managed a number of walks before abandoning the process during a big storm & investigating the depths of Inverness & Culloden. At the site of the battlefield there is a cottage  which was used by the Scots during the battle as a hospital for the wounded. This was murderously ransacked by the other side.  I made a painting of the building and  gave to Vincent, a Scot, work colleague & friend for his office...a year later when I told him the origins of the scene he gave it away...can't think why.
