Sunset Beach Way Out West...& East Out West Home

So far the journey had been an exciting action packed roller coaster of places and events. So it was a pleasant contrast to go to a place where there was just sand, sea, sun ....and not a lot else. Sunset beach is on the border of North and South Carolina, and as it was a few weeks after Labour Day the crowds had gone, but the sea was still very warm.
We hired an apartment looking over the dunes and sea.
www.sunsetvacations.com   Our trips out consisted of a few visits to the Calabash Creamery for Ice Cream and a further trip to a fish restaurants. So apart from walking on the beach, swimming, reading and watching the Pelicans come and go..... we did four fifths of not a lot...but we did it very well.

The bridge on to and off the island (seen here half open) was a delightful bit of engineering, soon to be replaced by a huge modern concrete design....much better for the locals, but you have to be sad at the loss of such a wonderful structure.
