15 Years of inconsequential chat while ambling along the River Thames from source to The Thames Barrier with Jimmy Walker.... but not walked in any particular order . |

The advantages of the Thames are missed on more energetic 'proper walkers', who have difficulty thinking of a good day's out unless they have climbed K2, or something of the like. Good scenery can be enjoyed from the window a coffee shop and there is a lot to be said for river walking....no hills. Our definition of a good amble starts after the salary slaves have gone to work. A coffee & SB (Sticky Bun ...a generic name for anything like a Toasted Tea cake, Almond Croissant etc.) within the first hour, followed by another stroll and a leisurely lunch in another hour or so... The afternoon is usually a reverse of the mornings activities. Jim lives to the north of the Thames and I to the south + Jim likes walking by the river (It's as close as you get to blue water sailing in Berkshire.) So we frequently meet here and many of the middle stretches between Sonning and Maidenhead get 'walked' very frequently. We have been by temple Island in temperatures from -5c to + 30c....we don't get lost to often.
