The Road to Oxford Home A Pilgrim?

Starting at the end of the river Wey this journey took over a year with  odd bits completed now & again. Essentially it is a trip up the river Thames to Oxford, At Runnemede there is the site of the signing of the Magna Carter . Followed by  the RAF memorial on Coopers Hill marking the 20,000+ airmen with no known graves. Then on to all the 'pretty' bits in Henley & Marlow.

From Cookham to Maidenhead Joy & Robert accompanied me for lunch at Bolters lock before Rob left for his World Tour.

I also enjoyed a walk by Didcot power station & a near by massive tip & waste recycling site, instructive rather than pretty perhaps, but its all part of the trip. Oxford Cathedral is part of a college , difficult to see as a stand alone building & has a feeling of the 'closed up' version of the Church of England...Choir and clergy on the inside...the masses outside the screen.
Because various bits have been walked and re walked several times over the years it all goes into a blur, but its fair to say that the river Thames and surrounding area north of Wallingford is not as exciting as the area to the south. On a number of walks I was accompanied by Jimmy Walker who provided his usual good conversation & ready wit.
