To the end of the land                                        Home

A few great days walking the coastal path around Lands End. The whole thing was kicked off with a kind invitation to supper with a customer of artonweb who I had never met in person before, Lin (+husband Eric) & Janet a very enjoyable evening. Link to Lin's paintings... www.linwilliams.com

Apart from the great scenery, I enjoyed the company of many people walking the route, especially Martyn where we shared a couple of the best Cappuccino's this side of London. Martyn's photo blog, including AL with cappuccino  http://www.flickr.com/photos/swcp630

On the cultural front the Round House Gallery in Sennen Cove provided some of the best contemporary pictures I have seen in Cornwall for years... www.round-house.co.uk  The John Piper pictures are outstanding.

To give the trip a rounded feel (& a rest from the walking) I paid a visit to Geevor tin mine which only closed in the 90's.... www.geevor.com . The mill shed was like something out of Indiana Jones and a testament to the ancient use of wood scaffolding. We also enjoyed a trip down a 300 year old mine, at the time if you reached  27 it was an achievement...reminds me how lucky I am to be a DB in the 21st century.

On the last day in Cornwall I came across the beach cafe at Porthcurno... the art of a clotted cream tea (in my case a clotted cream tea with cappuccino + a work through the 'Times') is alive & well. www.firstandlastcottages.co.uk/thingstodo.htm

The trip also provided a great source for painting....so far three 'good' paintings & one of dubious merit.

Martyn...Having given up the day job temporarily now walking the SW Coastal Path.... If you are feeling very fit (you go up and down the equivalent of 3 Everest's.)..... follow the link to Martyn's journey. http://www.flickr.com/photos/swcp630/page3/

(follow the link page down to the bottom & you might see a recognisable person getting his daily fix!)
