Astorga to Rabanal del Camino - 20Km

After a CCL+Tostada in a bar I set off in the dark and cold, hands in pockets quick march to get warm. The three very similar pictures, show how the morning unfolded, a gradual climb in very slowly changing circumstances. A big CCL  taken in the first village....is about as exciting as it gets. I also meet Fritz who retired one day and started his journey the next, his wife joins him at Sarria for the last 100Km...(picture below from their last day's walk into Santiago)

I must be moving fast today as I arrive at the Albergue at 1pm. For some subliminal reason I decide not to stay at the UK CSJ Albergue, but pick another.

After a walk round, bumping into Ester and Alex who are only stopping for lunch, I find Philip and we share a pint, he turns up at my Albergue (which is also a bar) and we share another. I have a long natter with a French Canadian. I, along with most 'grims in town go to Vespers in the church being restored by a very small community of monks...pleasant singing.

I then share a meal with Samantha, Lucy, Philip and a Belgian called Jasper who has walked from his home. Phillip is getting withdrawal symptoms from the lack of meat, I decide to join him, imagining some nice steak or other. It is fair to say that the locals and I have differing opinions of what constitutes a great meat dish.... but my problem and not theirs.

Today's bit of fun comes from a photo of a wall of leaves on a church I passed
