The Road to Chichester Home A Pilgrim?

I completed this tree trip walk within a week, in unseasonably warm January weather starting at Petersfield, although my connection point was  on the South Downs way near South Harting.

The first place of interest is Idsworth church which stands alone in the middle of nowhere, apparently there was a village here once, but the black death decimated the population & the village buildings eventually disappeared, leaving just the church with its fantastic Norman wall painting. The coast route follows the Solent way & passes small villages like Bosham before reaching Chichester.

The inside of this small cathedral would be nothing special except for modern works of art commissioned by Dr Hussey the Dean in the 1970's>>> a stained glass window designed by Chaggal, a painting of Jesus & Mary Magdalene by Graham Sunderland, John The baptist & Jesus by Hans Feibusch  & brilliant alter Tapestries designed by John Piper. Also you are reminded of the famous Battle of Britain fighter station at nearby Tangmere. The local historical views on the role of women in the church may be a tad suspect, but the cathedral has a nice feel.
