Le Charlton to Moissac 20k

Today I had committed to being in Moissac by 1pm for lunch with Andy & Monica. 20k… 4kph no problem? That is still 5 hours walking and 4k per hour is still a reasonable pace over variable paths? So leaving Elisabeth behind I got up at 5:30 and left by 6:30. Although the first 20 minuets was difficult in the dark, but it was a great sun rise.

In the early morning light I had a feast of spring flowers and eventually a field of Orchids. Very impressive when seen for the first time.... Even the long grass looked alive with all the dew on it.

By 09:00 I had arrived at Dufort-Lacapalette stopping off in the bakery for a croissant then taking it to the bar for a GCO. By 09:20 I was on the road again.

I was pleased when I made it to the meeting place by 12:30, fortunately I knew the town so it wasn’t too difficult to get a coffee in my hand and relax for 30 minuets.

Lunch took a very relaxing 2 hours we then did a quick tour of the town. Monica pointed out the big change in architecture, with the thin red bricks and tall windows.

Checking into the Gîte took longer than I expected and arrived at the same time as the three French girls. Out of gallantry I had to offer to take the top bunk. This is only the third time I have had to do this on the trip. (I have been surprised how few bunk beds there are… I am told in Spain they do it in three tiers.)

I then said goodbye to Andy & Monica. After all the rush of the day I suddenly felt very tired & down so I crawled into bed at 9:00.  The hostel in Moissac was big and I was glad to get out of it the next morning
