When it was suggested we go to the National Archive I thought it might be interesting to see a copy of the Declaration of Independence. This is a case where reality far exceeds expectation, not only did you see an original of the Declaration of Independence, but the Constitution & Bill of Rights as well. Along with these documents were others that established the power of the Supreme Court, and the abolition of slavery. There were also many other great displays of the work of the archive, I could have spent hours there.

The highlights for me were seeing John Hancock's signature ( " I will write it so large that King George can see it without his spectacles") on the Declaration of Independence, The ship's log from the USS Missouri on the day all came aboard to sign the surrender of Japan, at the end of the Second WW. The letter by Einstein to the President Roosevelt advising of the potential for a nuclear bomb. The enjoyment came not only from seeing these documents but the exciting way the displays were laid out. >>>It was worth 'going' to see, as well as worth seeing!
