You have to congratulate our American brothers, when it comes to Gothic they have outdone us, Pugin would have been proud.

You would have thought they would have organised something a tad original, but if you want an English Cathedral, here it is. However I am very proud of  them for organising  'Playboy' to design the sculpture of 'The Creation' over the front door.
English cathedrals were built first & the city developed around the building.  St Peter & St Paul is perched on the a hill on the edge of the city and to visit it requires a complex journey of Metro and bus...but well worth the effort..

As I have noted before US history is similar to UK's, just compressed in time. They started thinking about the project in 1791 & began building in 1907, completing the job in 1990. Although the US & Canada has been temporally 'drummed out of the Anglican regiment' for having differing views on gay bishops, you can see all the hallmarks of a great Anglican cathedral.>> but they are trying to use it as ecumenically as possible.

Leader buried in the main body - Woodrow Wilson.
Monuments to the nations fallen heroes.
A martyr preached his last Sunday sermon here - Dr Martin Luther King in 1968.
A fascinating crypt (I didn't see it, but my Leader has reminded me a few times that I should have.)
Requesting money for it's restoration (so soon?)

One of the stain glass windows is a great design & contains a bit of moon rock... Canterbury can't top that.
