Apparently the main reason you come to Charleston is to admire the houses, which are grand. It was very hot & humid outside, so after we had gawped at the houses and had a drink on a rooftop bar we headed for the market, which was more than a tad 'touristyfied' and ate a sandwich. (We are in the USA remember, normal rules for sensible quantities don't apply)

After lunch we went to Patriots Point to go on USS Yorktown, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that serves as a museum. It was great fun, but we hit a new watermark in our lives, they didn't want to give me any discount for my student card, but did offer  'seniors' reduction.... after that we went to the beach for a rest???
